Islamic Phrases

SubhanAllahi wa Bihamdihi in Arabic

SubhanAllahi wa Bihamdihi

Glory be to Allah, and praise be to Him.

Meaning

Subhanallah means "glory be to Allah", wa means "and", and bihamdihi means "with His praise". It joins glorifying Allah with praising Him. A well-known hadith calls the phrase "SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi, SubhanAllahil Azeem" light on the tongue but heavy on the scale. Muslims repeat it as dhikr, often 100 times in the morning and evening.

When to say it: Said as remembrance (dhikr), morning and evening and at any time.

Also spelled Subhanallahi wabihamdihi, Subhan Allah wa bihamdih, SubhanAllah wa bi hamdihi, Subhanallah wa bihamdihi subhanallahil azim.

Said on Laylatul Qadr.
