Islamic Phrases

Dua When It Rains in Arabic

Allahumma Sayyiban Nafi'a

O Allah, make it a beneficial rain.

Meaning

Allahumma means "O Allah", sayyiban means "a rain that pours down", and nafi'a means "beneficial". Aisha reported that when the Prophet saw rain, he said this, and al-Bukhari recorded it. Rain is a mercy, and some hadiths count the time it falls among the times when dua is answered, so many Muslims make other duas while it rains. After rain, the Prophet taught that it should be credited to the bounty and mercy of Allah.

When to say it: Said when it starts to rain.

Also spelled Allahumma sayyiban nafian, Allahumma soyyiban nafi'an, Dua for rain, Rain dua, Dua when it rains.
