Meaning
Rabbana means "our Lord", afrigh 'alayna sabran means "pour patience upon us", and tawaffana muslimin means "take our souls as Muslims". In Surah Al-A'raf, Pharaoh's magicians came to believe in the Lord of Musa and were threatened with punishment, and this is the dua they made. Afrigh means to pour out fully, as if patience were being poured over them. It appears in the Quran at 7:126.
When to say it: Said in times of hardship, loss or pressure, to ask Allah for patience and to stay firm in faith.
Also spelled Rabbana afrigh alaina sabran, Rabbana afrigh alayna sabran wa tawaffana muslimeen, Dua for patience, Dua for sabr.
